PHILADELPHIA, PA and NEWPORT BEACH, CA (October 22, 2018) InstaMed, healthcare’s most trusted payments network, announced today that HATCX selected InstaMed to power the consumer healthcare payments experience. InstaMed’s Member Payments solution will enable HATCX to embed payment functionality into its app. Consumers will be able to pay their healthcare bills using a digital wallet, and providers will receive the payments through the InstaMed Network.

HATCX seeks to make the consumer’s experience full circle—from finding a doctor, to scheduling an appointment, paying claims and rating the overall experience. As healthcare costs continue to rise, consumers are not only seeing the impact on their household budget, they are also looking for help navigating healthcare payments. According to the “Trends in Healthcare Payments Eighth Annual Report,” 71 percent of consumers want to be able to pay all of their healthcare bills in one place. The HATCX app meets this consumer demand and will allow health plans to increase member engagement and increase patient payments to its provider network.

HATCX is a branded team under Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska’s innovation subsidiary, Genesys Innovations. Established in 2016, HATCX launched their first app, HATCX | cost, in May of 2017. To date, the free app has received more than 10,000 downloads.

Consumers will be able to store all of their payment methods including credit and debit cards, bank accounts and health benefit accounts in their digital wallet on InstaMed. This flexibility gives consumers a choice in how they pay their healthcare bills. Additionally, consumers will be able to access their payment history 24/7 and download transaction information for household finance activities like tax preparation.
