I’m consistently impressed by the level of skill, creativity and agility that the InstaMed team exerts year-round as we work to innovate in the healthcare payments space. What is equally impressive are the unique lives they live outside of the office. Last year, we took the time to highlight the personal accomplishments of our team, and it seems they have been just as busy in 2017. I’d like to share with you some of the achievements that make me so incredibly proud to work with the people of InstaMed.
We Volunteered Our Time
Even after giving total focus and energy each day at work, many members of the InstaMed team still have the stamina to donate their time to help others. Some volunteered locally, displaying their love for InstaMed’s hometown of Philadelphia. In fact, our Network Relationship Management team volunteered in the city multiple times, helping out at the Philadelphia Flower Show, Night Market Philadelphia and planting trees with Love Your Park.
For others, their volunteering efforts had an impact abroad. One team member initiated a project with the Boy Scouts of America that collected and packed nearly two tons of books, school supplies and computers to support the creation of a library in a rural village in Uganda.
Some were willing to freeze for a good cause. One team member participated in the 2017 Polar Bear Plunge in Sea Isle, NJ which helps support autism awareness. Another team member jumped into an icy swimming pool in December to help raise money for the Philadelphia chapter of the Special Olympics.
Here are a few other ways InstaMed team members volunteered their time in 2017:
- Raised money for hurricane relief
- Spoke at four different high schools for the greater Nashville Fellowship of Christian Athletes
- Volunteered at Metropolitan Ministries
- Packed and handed out Thanksgiving care packages with Bethany Baptist Church
We Saw the World
The InstaMed team doesn’t shy away from adventure. In 2017, we traveled all over the globe! One team member completed a solo trip to Europe, spending three days in London, four days in Amsterdam and a night in Brussels. Another ambitious team member took his wife and their 18-month old son on a two and a half week vacation to Italy. One team member skipped the traditional turkey feast and spent Thanksgiving in Peru. A brave team member took his family on a ten-mile hike in Hawaii to see a live lava flow. Our bravest team member traveled to Mexico this summer to go cage diving with great white sharks.
We Flexed Our Creative Muscles
For a group of healthcare payments experts, we sure do have a flair for the dramatic. This year, one team member lived out her lifelong dream of being a princess by performing as “Belle” in a regional theatre production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Another team member showed off their vocal chops in a production of Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute. Another team member traveled back in time to Edwardian London in a community theatre production of My Fair Lady. We even had a team member who traveled to New York to perform in an original production titled Then, Now and Forever. But, perhaps the most impressive theatrical achievement was one team member actually getting tickets to see Hamilton on Broadway.
We also got creative in the kitchen. One team member entered and won a bake-off. Another pretended they were on a Halloween edition of Chopped and concocted a candy corn pizza.
Others were creative with their hands. One team member built a bed from scratch. Another took a jewelry-making class and made a ring. Another knit a gorgeous 6’ x 6’ cabled afghan.
On top of all that, we had many team members who got engaged, bought new houses and grew their families. Check out the infographic below for even more InstaMed Team 2017 accomplishments.
